The A/V-3 Kit

The A/V-3 uses the M-130-16 woofers. These are a 16 ohm version of our highly acclaimed M-130, 5.25" woofer.  The paralleled 16 ohm woofers keep output levels high while still allowing the A/V-3 to remain an 8 ohm speaker.

The GR-T3 tweeters used in this kit have been measured and tested, then grouped into matched pairs. No other kits in the market, at these low price points, offer tweeters in matched pairs.

The -3db down point is 40Hz. This will allow the new A/V-3 to integrate easily with sub woofers while also playing low enough to be used without one for most types of music.

The rear terminated transmission line controls the woofers very well. Bass response is tight but also well extended for small woofers.

The slim floor standing MTM design requires no stand and has a small footprint. Floor spikes are also included.

These speakers are great for high end two channel systems or as left and right mains in a home theater system.

Out performing speakers many times their price, these are very popular in the DIY circles. Outstanding reviews can be found on audio forums all over the Internet.

This kit is easy to assemble and can be considered beginner to novice level in difficulty. The wiring diagram has been provided in picture form, so you don't even need to know how to read a schematic.

Tools needed for assembly include a soldering gun, a heat gun (for sealing the glue filled heat shrink) or a really hot hair dryer, a Phillips head screw driver, and a number 15 Torx driver. Other tools that may help include a pair of needle noise pliers, and some good wire stripers.

The enclosures are designed to be easy to build as well with all the braces running through the transmission line at right angles.

For building the enclosures the recommended tools include a table saw, a router with a circle jig, wood glue, clamps or finishing nails (for holding it until the glue dries), drill, sand paper, etc.

Depending on how you choose finish them there will be an expense for veneer or paint.

One sheet of MDF is easily enough to build a pair of these. A sheet of 3/4" MDF is on average about $22.00.

We now offer the new patent pending Electra Tube Connectors as an option on all of the A/V series kits. The Electra Tube Connectors are superior to all current binding posts. These have a $59 a set retail value.

The standard kit now comes with Erse XQ inductors and Erse Pulse X poly caps. Sonicap Gen.2 by-pass caps are also standard with this kit. The standard internal wire is a high purity solid core 16 gauge with a polyethylene jacket. The kit even includes two sets of Brass floor spikes, screws, solder, heat shrink, and binding post cups.
