48×24 Diffusion panel (Set)

(1 customer review)

$450.00

These larger 48×24″ diffusion panels are deeper and ideal for breaking up midrange frequencies, and are sold in sets of four 48×24 inch panels.

These panels work best along the back wall & side walls, especially behind the speakers and near the corners to help up break up large, flat surfaces to scatter & reduce hard reflections, improving imaging and soundstage layering.
Despite their size, they are still light weight, making them easy to move and position for best performance.

These panels can be painted to better suite the aesthetic choices/needs of your room.
Stick to water-based acrylic or latex paint.
(Solvent-based paints will destroy the foam)

To keep shipping costs reasonable, we can only ship 4 panels in a single box.
If you plan to order several sets, it will be best to have them shipped on a pallet, please contact us for a freight quote.

If you can pick up these panels *in-person* we will offer them at a cost of $400 per set of four.

I have a wide, 20′, shallow, 12′, room. I chose to setup the room to have a wide soundstage so the room only has 12′ between the front wall and the back wall. This wouldn’t be a huge deal but my main speakers are Bowers & Wilkins 800D2 which are massive.

I needed a way to make the rear wall sound more lively as I have bass traps and other treatments in the room. To do accomplish this with QRDs (quadratic resonance diffusers) would have cost around $3000 and would have only been 4″ deep. These panels cost around $600 with shipping, paint and mounting accessories. I am very happy with the result!

I replaced a Ready Acoustics 2′ x 4′ x 4″ bass trap and some other diffuser materials with 3 of these diffusers. The sound difference was huge. It sounds (from the main seating position) like there is another 2-4′ of room behind you vs the dead sound I had with he bass trap and other material.

These are around 6.5″ at the deepest point. There are 2 panels included of 2 different styles; 2 with 11 “wells” and 2 with 12 “wells.” I cut one of the diffusers in half (top to bottom) and put half of either side of my in wall rear speakers. I painted them with latex paint and I love the look.

I word of caution, I used Gorilla 2 sided tape at first to mount them and the tape failed within 20 minutes. The painted panels were damaged when they hit tables on the way to the floor. I had to use a filler to repair the foam areas that were damaged then cover the repairs with paint. If there is a negative to these, it is that if something bumps them, as you would expect, they will show damage very easily. For me, I am handy so I can repair them so it isn’t a big issue for me.

Again, great value for the money and a nicer look than other solutions. The depth of 6.5″ was a nice plus, that isn’t listed in the page but I was happy to see the depth was substantial given the cost of diffusers over 4″ deep.
