B16 Power Cable

(4 customer reviews)

Price range: $279.00 through $359.00

We are now cryo-treating all of our power cables. (US/CAN-only)

The B16 is a cable design that uses 16 wires braided around a 1/2″ cotton core rope. Each hot and cold conductor uses 8 strands, which are twisted together, equivalent to a 10-gauge cable. A 14-gauge ground wire is nested inside of the rope.

The braided geometry helps to reject & filter out RMI & EMI noise without the higher capacitance created by more traditional shielding techniques

We offer both EU & UK style plugs for our European customers.

Every purchase is offered under a 30-Day trial period.

We recommend 200 hours of burn-in before they sound their best, and will make the most impact on Source gear like your DAC or Phono stage.
Just let them play power an active device for 24 hours for about 8 days.

Description

The B16 is a new cable design that uses a 16 wire braided around a cotton core. They are braided into a counter rotating geometry around a 14 gauge wire which is embedded into a 1/2″ rope, making it a 10 gauge for each primary leg, and 14 gauge for ground.

The male plug and IEC plug uses high purity polished Copper contact throughout.

These also come with a 30 day trail period. If within 30 days if they didn’t make a difference in your system worth the purchase price then you can return them for a refund.

Many people note an immediate difference verses standard power cables, but the recommended burn in time for these to sound their best is 200 hours. So plug them in and get some time on them before making A/B comparisons.

The B16 really opened up my dac, over the”courtesy” power cable that came with it. It cleaned up the noise.
    Good product.

If you really want to know if an upgrade works, try it out on a speaker you are familiar with–note initial impressions before your ears get used to improvements. I have a pair of Swan M300s in my living room. They sound pretty darn good on their own. When I plugged in the B16s the sound stage opened up. It was clearer even without a 100 hours of break-in. Bottom line is it made a noticeable positive difference.

Over the past year I’ve explored sound improvement with room treatments, speaker modifications, and cables. Each made its own unique, noticeable differences. Recently, while acquiring a Primaluna preamp from Upscale Audio, i had an informative discussion with them about power cables, which was enlightening, so i acquired one of theirs for the preamp. After this, i went back and reviewed Danny’s video about his power cables, so i decided to try this one for my Cambridge CXN 100 streamer DAC. I was not expecting the level of benefit this cable provided. It was immediately clear that everything I heard Danny describe in his videos was accurate. The Upscale Audio rep stated in his opinion, that cables are the biggest ‘secret’ in sound quality improvement and also described the same benefits Danny described. So after hearing what both of these gentlemen stated and then hearing for myself it made sense. With Danny’s cable powering the DAC, the space between all the instruments and vocals opened up in a way that increases the life-like aspect of the music. It did add refinement as well. Another stand out, was how the vocals, in many songs, gained a life-like ‘weight’ i could feel, to some degree. Vocals gained more ‘mmphh’, so to speak. And, as i’ve come to appreciate with Danny’s products, the quality and excellence he’s bringing to the table is amazing for the prices he’s asking. Sure, it’s a bit of an investment if you stock your whole system with the cables, but if you were to do so with other brands offering similar quality, you’d likely spend two to three, if not more, times than that for other brands. Can’t say enough good about this cable.

    Dear GR Research,

I purchased two of your B-16 power cables a few months ago.

Not sure what feedback you have received so thought I would provide some.

I am using these cables on my tube monoblocks. Really nice sounding cables for the money.

I compared them to some Shunyata power cables. at the 1K price point not sure I could tell which was which (shunyata vs. GR).

I borrowed some $3.8k (Sigma V2 NR) and $9k (Omega Q-R-S) shunyata power cables. They were much quieter better sound stage, etc, but also cost much more than 379 dollars. Was a monster price increase.

so nice work on your power cables. Very nice performance for not a ton of cash.
